CISCO 2980G would not let me enter the password

When I boot the router, it goes through the post but at the end instead of placing the cursor at the end of the word PASSWORD, it moves to the next line and flashed a horizontal cursor and i cannot type anything there...
what is wrong???

Have you tried running through a password recovery scenario to restore the password? Does the switch actually pass packets after it is booted, or does it appear to lock up ( just a thought if it was bad hardware....)

I'd try restoring it to the factory defaults and see if you can access it without a password or with a new config.

it was just hyperterminal acting up all of a sudden....started using another prog.
