We had a power cut at the weekend and since the equipment has come back up a couple of ports on my cisco 2900 are occasionally flashing orange then going back to green, this is when the switch is set to STAT, when I select 100 the port is showing that it is running at 100bps, I was wondering what this orange flashing light means, is it collisions?

Also damaged from the power cut was a 2600 router one of the ethernet ports was damaged and no users could access our network, I have since replaced this router and the users are able to access the system again although every 20 minutes a could of users loes connection - any ideas?

This equipment was on a UPS but it did not last out long enough.

Flashing amber does mean the port is taking errors, but the way to find out which would be to "show interface fa0/1" or whatever interface it is.

If only a couple users lose connection every 20 minutes, I would not suspect the router. If there was a problem with the router, you'd expect all users to go down.

Plug into the console port and watch the switch power up , if there is a problem during POST then it should show up in the logs .
