We recently switched phone carriers and now have a spare Cisco 2651xm router at our disposal.
I am unsure weather or not we should plan on selling the router or if I should keep it around and make use of it.
I am hoping that if I list our basic networking needs, someone may be able to tell me if the router will help fulfill them. Our needs are basic, but I am unsure if the router in its current configuration is capable or not.
The router has (2) WIC 1DSU T1 cards, and (1) VWIC 1MFT-T1 card installed.
We currently use our existing routers for the following:
Basic port forwarding
firewall
content / key word filtering
VPN for VOIP phones
We have a number of available IP addresses from our carrier, and I would like to divide some of our services between different routers and IP addresses. To keep certain services from running on our publicly registered domains IP address.
Long story short, Do you think I should keep the Cisco router around?
