I am attempting to bring three point to point T1 lines into a 2650 router. I have one VWIC-2MFT-T1 card and one WIC1-DSU card. The WIC1 card and one of the two interfaces on the VWIC card came up without any problems. The third interface, which is configured exactly like the first interface on the VWIC card refuses to complete a connection. The router at the other end of this point to point T1 line is configured like the router that completes the first VWIC connection. No matter what I try, I end up with DCD-Down DSR-Up DTR-Up RTS-Up CTS-Down. The T1 provider tested the line with loopback and was able to connect. I am traveling to the remote site to examine the settings there. What should I be looking for?

Uhhh...Someone correct me if I am wrong but the VWIC-2MFT-T1 card is a MultiFlex T1 card. Meaning the other T1 port is to back out voice channels if you have them bundled onto a T. The card only has one CSU/DSU unit for one channelized T1. For example say you have a bundled data/voice T1 PRI. Maybe you have 6 of the 23 channels (since the PRI only has 23 usable) that need to go to your PBX out ouf a full T1. The Multiflex "drop and insert" card allows you to back out the voice channels to your PBX w/o spending on an expensive external CSU/DSU usit and having to find specialized cable (like a DB60 to a V.35)

This solution was proposed by our Cisco provider and I quote "2600 WIC Slot - When you use the Multi-Flex Trunk in the WAN interface card (WIC) slot of the Cisco 2600 routers, you can configure each T1 into a single channel group as a serial interface. You can have at most two channel groups per VWIC." This does seem to imply that I can have two seperate T1 lines terminate at the router. Were they wrong?

rlgaooa - I apologize for the confusion..but it is confusing to me as well. After I responded to your post I looked around a bit on these forums and others and it seems others are saying that what you are trying to do should be possible with the VWIC-2MFT-T1 card. However, I looked at the Cisco marketing Pdf for this and the "drop and insert" card and could not tell that "bonding of Ts" is possible. Their Pdf is actually rather confusing. On another note, have you looked at Multilink Point-to-Point as an option. I know you can do what you are attempting with this protocol. Look at this link and see if it helps:

Actually I was able to make it work with the original configuration. I arrived at the remote site and started by checking the basics, a loose jack at the smart card in the POP turned out to be the culprit. I will have a look at the multilink point to point to see if it helps. Thanks for quick replies.
