I've been plagued with this problem for quite some time and it's starting to get to me.
I've got a Cisco 2600 router with NAT set up.(Software version is 12.0(4)T) Everything works properly for an extended period of time. For no aparent reason, my email server (Debian Linux 2.2) is unable to send mail through my router. After finding nothing wrong with my mail server I go to the router. I find a suspicious looking NAT table. I have a few normal looking entries for my mail server and towards the end I 30-40 entries that look similar to this (IP's have changed to protect the innocent):
--- <Outside IP> <Mail Server IP> --- ---
Neither of these IP's have port numbers next to them.
The only thing that will get my mail to reach the outside world is by either clearing the NAT or rebooting the router.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is messing up my NAT table?
Thanks,
