Cisco 2611 doesn't boot into startup-config

Hi:

Have a Cisco 2611 running IOS 12.1.
When it boots, it boots with a standard (nothing configured) state. If I type show startup-config, then my correct config is show. If I show running-config, I get just the basic few lines that are the default. If I copy startup-config running-config. It works fine. Any ideas on this? I assumed it should boot into 'startup-config'

your config register must be set to 2142 instead of 2102..
this would bypass your startup config everytime you boot.

Thanks for that. It was set to 2142. Have changed it to 2102, but can't reload it right now. Am assuming all is well.
