Cisco 2600 router freezing at IOS startup

Hello,

My cisco 2600 router keeps on freezing during the bootup of the IOS. I am able to enter in ROM monitor mode but if I attempt to reload the IOS it freezes. Any ideas? Thanks

Could be RAM problem, but more likely flash or corrupt IOS in it.

Post the console output & someone might be able to tell you more

Probably hardware component issue. Strip unit down to bare basic's (one piece ram an flash on NM's) and then add back mod's until problem is found. If still freezing with just ram and flash you have to try different ram and flash.

The first thing I would check would be the image in flash. From rommon, you can now use the tftpdnld command. No more xmodem!! Directions to do this are here:

Once you have a known good image in flash, if the router is still freezing on bootup then you need to replace the RAM, etc. as outlined above.
