cisco 2514 NAT with cable modem

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a cisco 2514 router that I'm trying to connect it to a cable modem.The ios I am running is 12.0(5)T
Can anyone give me a valid config or point me in the right direction to accomplish this? I've tried static and dynamic nat. I'm not sure if I have to specify a name server or dns server. I've given the router a default route but it still does not work.

The Cable Modem provider should provide you with all the details you require (DNS Server, IP Numbrs etc etc). The only problem I had really was that they would not provide me with any technical help. This was because I decided to use my own router apparently. But it works fine and I have a 3640 connected to a 2948G switch via fibre. I have DHCP configured on the router itself I have a config but you may need to tweak it a bit but it should point you in the right direction. Hope this helps!

thanx for the info Disgruntledgoat, bu I must say I finally got it to work as of 4/2/02. Just one question I have for you. My cable service gives an ip lease of 3 days, will the router renew the lease or do I have to go through the whole drama again? I checked cisco's site and was unable to find anything about renewing an ip.

with a newer version of IOS, you can set up the ethernet port as a DHCP client and let the cable company change their hearts out
