I bought a used cisco 1924 switch (WS-C1900) recently for my practice purpose.
In order to configute it, I connected a DB9 male to DB9 male serial cable from my computer's com port to the switch's console port.
When the switch is turned ON, I dont get any response on my computer's hyperterminal screen. What can be the reason?
Since it was a used unit and Since I am unaware of its IP address or password, I am unable to configure it through the AUI port.
Any suggestions are most welcome.

thanks

I would try setting a couple different connection speeds on hyperterminal. You can set anywhere between 9600 to 115200. Also, just to make sure, I would console into a router or another switch just to make sure your PC is working correctly, but more than likely it is a console speed problem. ~~~~~~~~~~
