Hello,

I'm trying to get a WIC-4ESW to work in a Cisco 1721 access router. From what I have read the WIC-4ESW is a supported WIC module however it seems to be very IOS specific. Can anyone who is running this setup tell me what IOS ver they are running? I've tried a few vers so far and none has recognized the WIC-4ESW yet wanted to see who else had success w/ this and what IOS you're running.

Thanks,

Rainman!

The MPC 860 microprocessor (revision B5 or later) is required for using the Cisco WIC-4ESW card. Post a sh ver

Hello

Thank you all for suggestions. It was definately an IOS issue I did get it working by using:

c1700-sy7-mz.123-7.XR7

Did some more digging on the WIC-4ESW and found some notes that stated it required an X version of IOS in the 12.3 train (prob when Cisco implemented driver support for the WIC). I am also going to try 12.4 (thank you Minue for stating you have it working with 12.4).

Thanks so much for the input!

Doesn't Minue get a star? That will let him know that he helped!

You are right sorry about that :) DONE !

Also - in case anyone is interested, you can drill out the rivets on a Cisco 1711 (they have the WIC-4ESW riveted in non-removable WIC) and use this WIC in a Cisco 1721 (same part # etc). I personally did not have to do this (I just dont like the idea of drilling holes in Cisco gear) but someone I know was attempting this and using the specific IOS proved it works in a 1721. Just FYI in case anyone else has a C1711 in the closet and wants that WIC-4ESW for another application.
