actually if you use a highgain directional antenna, say a parabolic or high dbi panel you can get that distance in one direction. check out ciscos site for wireless antenna options. i have seen point to point with 340 bridges at 100mw at over 2 miles. so i know its possible. radios are the same as those in the 1200s. FCC regulates it.
