I have been given some Cisco Aironet 1200 series access points to install in our office.
Does anyone know of an idiots step-by-step guide to configuring these.
What I really want to do is set up MAC address filtering so that only those MAC addresses in a local table can access my LAN
Under the Security - Advanced security - Local List I have added my PC card's MAC address.
But other devices can still gain access.

Software Version 12.2(13)JA4

I found how to do this while trying another feature under
Security - SSID Manager - Authentication Settings - Methods Accepted - Open Authentication
Select with MAC authentication
Now only MAC addresses in the Local list are allowed onto my LAN.

I have now set WEP 128 bit encryption and MAC address filtering, but are there any other security settings that I should be considering.
Thanks

Turn off SSID broadcast.....as long as the network is setup on the PC then you do not need to broadcast it. Setup PC to not connect to any unsecure networks automatically.

Thanks Joamon,

I have also disabled CDP.

When I reboot my AP's the time reverts back to its default.
Can this be fixed without the use of NTP ?

I have tried setting the date and time from web browser and console cable.

Think you need to use NTP.....otherwise you will need to reset the time after every reboot or power failure.

NTP is working OK on our older AP340 (version 11.10T) but will not synchronize with the AP1200's.
I have added the DNS server details. When I enter the name of our NTP server it is being resolved OK onto the AP1200.
Any ideas ??

You might try using a syslog server and capture the debugging for NTP events and see what is going on. Can you post the config?

Joamon,
debug ntp packets showed nothing

Also I cannot connect any 802.11b devices.
I though the 1200's were 802.11g which is supposed to be backward compatible with the 802.11b standard

root dispersion is 0.00 msec, peer dispersion is 0.00 msec

If you are using a named NTP server try using the IP address instead.

I have tried using the IP address but it still will not synchronise.
I know the NTP server is working as other devices synchronise fine.
Regarding my 802.11b devices - If I set the radio settings date rate to default, they connect OK. If I set this for best throughput then they will not connect
