CIM7 VS. MS Proxy 2.0 no authentication

Have problems connecting to the internet to download VCDB database files in Cim7. Not connecting using ActiveUpdate 2.0. Need to know if it is the Proxy server having the problem or could it be the Firewall blocking the connection. CIM7 does not seem to be passing my username and password. I ran netmon on both the CIM7 server and the proxy server you can see the proxy server asking for authentication. I am a domain administrator with no retrictions to the internet. I can get CIM7 and ActiveUpdate to work through a HTTP tunneling program, but its very slow to get any updates. We are running superscout on the proxy to filter out adult sites. No rules are written to prevent CIM7 to update.

The error message you get is An error occured updating VDBC. Proxy authentication is required.

What ports are needed besides 80??

Probabbly just AU - it doesn't really work all that well. I expect Compaq/HP will update it with a better product in the near future since their version control agents depend on this info.

I have the same problem.

It says "starting to update VCDB..." then bombs out with this message:

"Error updating VCDB. Could not resolve host name: sss.compaq.com"

This is Insight Manager 7 SP2, on a Compaq Proliant ML350

Forget the legacy VCDB - start looking at the new Version Control Agent and Version Control Repository Manager
