afraid i'm new to cifs.
he is what i have and want to do.

netware 6.5 mainly sp2 but most going to 5 . edir 8.7.3.7.
we are running an idm driver to sync to an AD tree and this is working fine.

i have a citrix app and this is what the AD is for - i want them to be able to access a mapping inside the app via cifs. the server is in AD.

to test on a pc .
i created an nds account for sdoo - this auto created AD account and i set the universal pwd through imanager 2.5
logged into pc local as sdoo - tried to map to cifserver\test
gives me a login box but i cant login
i can see nmas logout 23700501.19-14 errors on server

inside image i have configured this as name - it is resolvable by wins
edited cfg for contexts but the logout suggests it is finding me anyway

any thoughts
the cifs is just set to local just now - going to try domain but i think i need sp5 for that - which i am doing in background first

Hi,

here is my best pratice on that:

1. bring all servers (where you need cifs) to SP5 + nw65os5a.exe and n65nss5a.exe (cifs patch)
2. Configure the cifs via imanager on the servers to authenticate to the PDC emulator of your AD
3. have the same user account in the nds (and in the cifs search list) for the trustee authentification

By default, the Cifs Server name is diffreent fromt he normal netware fileserver name and it is not recommended by novell to set them to the same, nevertheless we work with 1800 users and 25 servers with the same name in cifs and nCP !

Problem can then only be, that if you create a share below the normal volume stuckture, the client with ncp access (netware client) will then not be able to see it becuase of the unc path filterlist in client 4.9x

Hope that helps you a little bit

Cheers
Andreas
