I have a problem where if I set the netmask on a Solaris 8 box to something like 255.255.255.192 on reboot it goes to 255.255.255.0 even though it's set correctly in the /etc/netmask file.

Any ideas why ?

I assume you mean /etc/netmasks and not /etc/netmask

Did that fix it? Was it just a filename problem?

If it didn't, please list your [tt]/etc/netmasks[/tt] file and the IP of the machine.

No it wasn't a filename problem, I typed it in here incorrectly.

The netmask was getting set through NIS.
