Pulling out an older 90 station system that will provide the 7310 stations sets with CID number but not CID name and number so the seller says.

I could not test to see if I could get the name to show becaus he already removed the trunks. The system is still running.

If oly the number is captured how can I get it to display both name and number.

As long as the line provider is sending name and number, the Norstar will show either depending on what you set to display first. You can then use the info button to scroll through name, number, date and line number.

Must I make sure that the provider whcih is XO COmmunications will provide both name and number. I understand that some providers only provide number and not name.

Also, do all these systems accept CID info. as standard. For example a "Compact" system?. I have one that was given to me. Does it need a software package or level for CID?

P.S. were is programming will I find the CID programming of lines and stations?

If it is a Compact ICS any software version will give you call display, you need to have a caller id line card installed. If it is a 6x16 Compact you need DR5 or 5.1 software as well as a caller id module (C6), the C6 can be hard to find since they don't make them anymore. I don't know XO COmmunications but one call to them will tell you if they provide name display. As for programming, it depends on which system you have, they are different. Is it a flat rectangular cabinet or short and stubby with card slots in front?

I have both the Compact 6x16 and the new 90 station unit with the optic fiber cable interfaces and the card in front. It uses the older App. Proc. for voice mail and DID using PRI.

Do you plan on using pri or just analog lines? With pri caller id is there already, if your going to use standard analog lines you need CI line cards for call display, they would go into the slot where the pri card is and the slot next to it, if you have up to eight lines. The software cartridge to the upper left will tell you what version it is, again the software level will determine the programming. If it is R1T1 the programming is different than all other versions. If there is a pcmcia card plugged into a cartridge there will be a software version on the pcmcia card eg( mics dr 4.1 wi1605 ) This will determine what needs to be programmed.

THey will be taking it out of service in the next month. I only had a few mins. to look at it. I am buying it for salvage value as is. They are replacing it with a VOIP. I don;t want them to think I am in ahurry to get otherwise they might want more for it. I will let you know more about it once i get it in house.
