I have the KX-TA624 with the TVS-50 and thought I had everything the way I wanted it until this problem cropped up. All calls go the the VPS first. It plays prompt 819 first (as the company greeting) and then goes to custom 1 or 2 depending on time setting. Here is the problem. The building has the box out front so after hours, someone looks your name up in the directory and presses a button to get it. It calls our line 2, and when you answer it you press 9 to unlock the door. As it stands now, if they call from outside, it goes to the VPS. Before I change anything, here is my thought. I want to use CID call routing so when the call comes in from outside, it routes the call to an extension instead of the VPS. My question is this. When you route the call, does it go directly to the extension, or does it play prompt 819 and then go to the extension? And is this the best route to fix this problem.

Thanks

see table 33 on page 178 of system features it describes
it to the letter. If you are looking for vectors, tranparent
routing of incoming calls to exts via caller id thats not
what caller id routing does it plays a specific ogm once
you are in a mailbox providing you are the callid table.

Page 177, table 33 - "allows the System Administrator to assign up to 120 Caller ID numbers and program the route for the calls from these assigned numbers to the desired extension, mailbox (System Group Distribution List included) or Custom Service." Page 178, table 33 - "The caller name is announced when:...(2) the VPS transfers calls from assigned numbers to the subscribers (Caller ID Screening)". According to page 177 it sounds like the caller id entry has a name associated and the VPS will route the call to an extension. Then, according to page 178, the VPS will announce the call with a name if one is assigned. Am I missing something?

Thanks

thats why I said with a lot of stuff thats in the book you have to set it up in order to see if it will work for you

hey once you have this set up let us know if it actually
does vectors ?

I have this setup on a TWA848 and TVS50,I believe the 848 and 624 are similar.
You can build system speed numbers in the 848 and set the CO lines to look here first and if it finds a match it will direct the call directly to the extension or wherever you want.
If no match is found it will then go to the TVS where again you can build a Caller ID list and send the call to an extension or voicemail etc.
You can use one or the other setups or both.
The nice thing about the 848 system speed is if it makes a match it will send the name you put in the speed dial for that caller ID making it easier to recognize the caller when it appears at the extension.

I did a test run and it worked fine. I put my cell number into the caller ID routing. I have 3 CO lines and 3 unused CO lines. I ran a free extension to CO 6 (unused) and then called the main line from my cell phone. Instead of it transferring me to the VPS, it transferred me to the extension, which in turn lit up line 6. (which is what I wanted).
