Hi,
We seem to have a problem that has only recently become apparent. Every 30 minutes (exactly to the second!) one of our CICS/TS regions quite simply stops processing and appears to go to sleep. This sleep period is currently lasting for about 14 seconds (but is growing) and the 30 minute cycle starts again upon waking up.

Details: CICS/TS 1.3 (vsam region @ 30 txns per sec)
MVS Logger
OS/390 2.9

CICS internal trace hasn't helped.

Has anybody got any ideas??

Are u executing exec cics delay interval/time command in any of ur application program running under your CICS Transaction server which goes in the sleep state?? Please check out that first.

Thanks for the response but the problem appears to be directly connected to a 30 minute 'cycle' within the MVS Logger. At each of these events, the Logger goes CPU crazy and CICS waits / sleeps whilst this event happens (ranges from 1 - 2 secs thru to @ 14 seconds). This CICS system does make considerable use of the logger and we are able to see that the Logger task IXGW1TSK appears to be the culprit for the WAIT. What we can't find out is whether this is caused by a CICS request or if CICS is merely an innocent party in all this. Traces appear to show the latter.
