I have a CICS with several M7310, two T7316E, an ATA2 and a door phone. We recently had a lightning strike close to the house and since then the ATA2, which is used for a cordless phone, would not work, both T7316E's message lights flash constantly and the headset light remains on with the mute and hands free lights flashing about every three seconds. Other than that, the T7316E's will not work no matter what extension they are plugged into.

I purchased a replacement T7316E and plugging it in to several extensions ending with the same results as above.

The ATA2 was replaced and the cordless is now working fine.

I recently noticed that the door phone is also no longer working. Pushing the button does nothing and calling it ends with a busy signal and "Not in service".

I have pulled both trunk line modules and installed each individually with the same results. I have pulled the 7.1 software and replace it with the old 6.0, with the same results.

It looks as if the CICS took a hit however the M7310's work fine as does the StarTalk Flash voice mail.

Am I looking at having to replace the CICS?

Any suggestions on further trouble shooting will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Any part could have got zapped.

Did anything boot up when going to 6.0?
When down grading software you need to do a Startup procedure so that all sets boot up.
Startup must be done within 15 minutes of power on, when you see "applying template" wait about 20 seconds then pull the power then insert 6.0 and power up and wait.

You could also try doing the same startup procedure but just dont pull the power or swap software.

Re-programming from scratch required in both scenario's

If still no go after trying both above then replace cabinet, cheap these days.

One time I totally forgot to disable Nortel Vantage ports (both digital and power pairs) from the jacks before I installed the new CICS and M7324 series sets.
The M7324 sets appeared to be blown and just would not come up and realized what I had done.
I returned them to distributor who tested them and they said they worked fine.
We found out that those sets worked fine on a MICS 0X32 in there lab, just not on my CICS anymore.
My replacement sets worked just fine on the CICS.

So what I am saying is even though maybe cabinet issue still have those sets tested on another 0X32 before discarding them.

As Curly has stated, if the startup sequence doesn't work then your Norstar CPU is damaged and will probably need replacing.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Followed your instructions and still can't get the T7316E phones or door phone to work. Looks like I will need to replace the cabinet as you suggested.

Thanks for all the help!
