There is a very small hole in the case of the CICS close to the amphenol cables that has a reset button below it on the mother board. Does anyone know if this is to send the data base back to default or exactly what this does.

I have never heard of this. I donot ever remeber seeing any hole that said reset. I have put in about 150 of the CICS systems. Please tell me. How old the UNIT is? I uiwll look at one tommorrow.

Sincerely, thephoneboy

To reset the system, don't you enter STARTUP within the first 5min of powering up the system just like a MICS?

Yes Dasheen, but I believe you get 15 mins. I agree with the phoneboy, never seen a reset button.

I've been installing norstar's (MICS & CICS) for 11 years and have never seen a reset button on either version.

Only reset button close to amphenol I've seen is on a BCM 50

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

All Cics have this button, Most people do not notice it. It has always been there, on old units and very brand new ones. It's a very small hole on the front of the case. What this momentary button does, I never spent alot of thought on it.

well maybe it's time I need glasses sause I have been installing norstars-cics for 13 yrs. and I have never seen this magic button either...i will have to research this one.

it did nothing at all...what a let down i was wanting to hear something more interesting...

LOL.... My plan worked you guy's couldn't resist the temptation of pressing that button.. Ha Ha Ha....

Next I'm going to take over the World....!!!!

actually that button started a timed release of the magic blue smoke, it will find its way out of the CICS about midnight when you aren't ready for it. [sleeping]

I re-read the manual. It triggers a countdown for a thermonuclear attack.

Think I'll have another beer before armageddon begins.

Never played with the button to know for sure, but was told that it returns the I-RAD to original settings as existed when the feature card first enabled it. Perhaps worth an experiment, although, with Armageddon on the way, the point may be moot. Checked all my old manuals, and most show the pin-hole in the case diagrams (just above and left of the lines amp connector), but none make references to it or provide any label for it.

It probably activated that ioio connector that was reserved for future use?

misseditbythatmuch- Thanks for getting us back on track. That would make sense, and it's good to know.

Jerry- I've always been curious about that. Do you know of any application that uses that yet?
