Okay, call me impatient, but here's the deal...

I'm installing a CICS in my residence to replace an aging Landmark...The KSU arrives today and I have all my phones, except the ONLY two line phone that I ordered, which is backlogged until next week.

I know that the CICS has a built-in RAD, and I was wondering if I can actually perform the initial start-up programming through the RAD with the Norstar software, or will I need start the programming with a 2-line display phone?

I would like to get the system installed and programmed this weekend because I blocked out the time to do it.

NO to RAD startup (ivent ever done it)

in some version RAD was turned on by default, if so you can program

Thanks! Hopefully it will be set-up as default...Unless anyone here in the NW Indiana area has a 2-line Norstar phone I can borrow... (Or I could just "borrow" one from the local Staples...)

:)

Based on the conversation heard, I would suggest an installer with a background in Nortel setup and programming.

I will manage just fine on my own...

Set up plenty of other systems, have studied the manuals from cover to cover...

IMHO, the CICS is much easier to set-up than some of the systems I have worked with in the past.

The I-RAD programming is not going to happen anyway. The old system had female amphenol ports, and the CICS has male (which I found out when it arrived today). So, all the phones will arrive before the new cables come.

While I am sure there are some do-it-yourselfers that come here with no telecom background at all...Luckily, I do not fall into that category. I have worked for 10+ years in the telecom industry and have worked with everything from copper to fiber long haul network switches...Setting up a PBX is a walk in the park.

BTW - I went back through the manual and discovered that you can set-up the CICS even if the I-RAD is not enabled in programming. Nice little back door method.
