Need help - inherited a Norstar CICS system and have successfully connected up in-lines and extensions. However incoming calls are not ringing on phones - line 1 lights up ok (flashes) and line can be picked up - also ringers work dialling other extensions - but phones are silent when calls coming in. Also would love to know of a software way to change extension numbers - there is no change DN in system config/system progamming for ICS.

Simon

You need to Assign lines to "Appear and Ring" on the sets you'd like to have ring with incomming calls. You do this under "Terminals and Sets", "Line Access" for each extension.

Feature * * 266344, password 266344
Terminals&Sets - Show
Show set: ___ - Enter the extension number you want to program. i.e., 223
23:223 - Show
Line access - Show
Line assignment - SHow
Show line: ___ - enter the line number you want to have appear and ring on the set.
L001: unassigned - Press the change button in your display until it shows appr&ring. Now what one line appear and rings on that one set. Repeat for each line you want to appear on this set.

To change DNs

Feature * * 266344, Password: 266344
Terminasl&Sets - Next until you see
System prgrming - Show
Hunt groups - Next
Change DNs - Show
Old DN: ___ - Enter the ext#
New DN: ___ - Enter the new ext# MRoberts

Thanks very much for the tip - however this is what happens
Enter config mode - passwd 23646 etc.
Terminals&Sets - Show
Select the Set number (in my case 224)
See 224:Boardrm - Show
But the only choices I get then are:
Capabilities/Name/User prefs/Restrctns/Telco Features

There is no option for Line Access

I noticed in another thread that someone had been entering the wrong passwd and could not see all options - I have the default 23646 getting me into the admin OK and when I look at passwords that is certainly what shows.

Help! - please

Do as instructed above and use the INSTALLERS password 266344!~ MRoberts

Thanks so much for the help MRoberts - you were right that was the solution - late last night I found (through exhaustive searching) a CICS installation manual in PDF format!!!. Since I only had administrators manuals this was a blessing . I restarted the system and have solved all my problems!!. Have also learned that there are 4 administrator modes and passwords. If anyone would like a copy of this manual please let me know - it has all the relevant information from wiring to programming - excellent for the DIY pbx enthusiast like me.

One last question - which lines does the startalk flash box connect into on the terminal block? - havent got round to hooking that in yet! it has a 2 and a 4 cable outs (what is the difference between the two)

Cheers

The StarTalk Flash voice mail is connected to the phone system via station ports. So you will wire up one or two jacks and connect the Flash with a simple silver satin line cord to the ports underneath the Flash.

You will need to determine whether you have a Flash 2 or a Flash 4 (meaning ports). Each station technically has 2 voice channels per port. They are called B1(s) and B2(s). So if you have a Flash 4 then you have the ability to use 4 channels. You would then wire 2 jacks to 2 extensions on your block; use a line cord and connect them to the ports underneath the Flash.

Thanks MR - so really that means that I could put the box anywhere in the office. I noticed from the install manual that there are certain pins on the amphenol that are dedicated to aux/music and not used, so presumably jacks should be wired into block on any valid station lines on the pushdown?. I believe that it is a 4 port flash system

Simon

The station ports that you connect the Flash to MUST be valid station ports. If you cannot connect a Phone to the jack then the Flash won't work either. So the pairs for MOH and Aux. Ringer etc. Won't work for you.

If it is a 4 port Flash then you will need two station ports. MRoberts
