I have a client with a CICS 6.1 and CP100 3.1. Client said calls keep dropping. Have changed out the trunk card (they have only 3 lines with Rogers who says it's a phone system problem)and didn't hear from them for a while. They called in recently and said they still have calls dropping, the trouble never went away. They have made arrangements for me to meet a Rogers tech on site. I know we'll be playing the blame game and I'm sort of at a loss. In 17 years as a Norstar tech I have encountered dropped calls a number of times and it has always, ALWAYS been a telco issue. Other than a bad trunk card does anyone know of issues with a CICS that would cause calls to drop?

Are the phones resetting or is it just the line that drops? Try changing out the anphonol.

Just the call drops during the call. Happens at random. No power loss or flashing sets.

And your positive that the replacement line card you put in was working properly I assume? I know Rogers Lines are generally VoIP lines with the media converter on site, Have you tried a reboot of the media gateway module. I'd ask Rogers to take a look at that. Like you, I've rarely seen this issue actually be the phone system, and when it is, changing the line card has always done the trick for me in the past.

Recently one of my customers had a very similar problem, we changed the line cards and it solved the problem for 2 days. when it came back I did some thorough testing and realized the actual chasis had warped in the humidity of there warehouse and thus the line cards were not seating properly.

And that's about all I can think of.

I tell clients 99% of time its a carrier issue, I can start replacing parts at your cost or you can lie to the carrier and say we replaced the whole system.
