CICS Dialing Out Issue

Had a strange problem that happened to me once (so far) on a CICS 6.1 system. Wanted to know if anyone else had the same thing happen to them, and if so, if it means that I have a defective part.

I started to have problems dialing out numbers from any set on the system. At first I assumed it was the CO line, so I plugged a standard phone into the POTS line and was able to dial out without problem.

I reconnected the CICS, and the problem still existed.

I placed a butt set on the line to see if I could hear what the problem was. What I discovered was that anytime the system transmitted a "1" DTMF tone, it was not the proper DTMF tone, but a single frequency.

None of the other transmitted digits had that issue.

I reboot the system, and all was fine.

Is this a problem that sometimes happens with 6.1 or a DS/CID copper card?

Has anyone else had this happen to them before?

I am trying to determine if I need to swap out my line card, or worse, KSU.

Any ideas would be helpful.

This happened about a month ago, and has yet to happen again.

I know you said this happens from any set on the system, but does it happen from any line in the system too? How many lines do you have in your system, maybe you can swap cards in your system to see if the problem follows the card or not.

It was happening with all lines at the time, from any set.

At this time, I only have 4 lines and one line card, so I do not have an extra card.

The problem only happened once, and went away after a system reboot.

I have yet to have the problem happen again, and hope it does not. Given that this is in a residence, the last thing I need to happen is have the system fail when someone needs to dial 911.

Was just curious if anyone else ever had this happen to them. I fully understand that software can be flaky at times, so I can accept the fact that it was just one of those flukes that may never happen again.
