cics changing software

can you remove an old 2.0 software from cics cabinet and stick new 7.1 software in and just reprogram after doing a startup??
if I have to remove plastic from cics where do I find capacitor to short out or drain in order to use new software. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

if you do a STARTUP with the 2.0 then while the display reads APPLYING TEMPLATE you unplug the power that should default the cabinet so you can then put in the 7.0. Give it at least 30 minute with the 7.0 to come up before you panic. If it's not up in 30 minutes you can try again with 2.0 or just short the caps.
