I am working with a Norstar CICS system with Call Pilot 100/150 VM. the system has 3 CO lines with 4 phones. 2 digit extensions. My customer wants incoming calls to ring 5 times then hit a voicemail box that originates at extension 24 but can be checked from any phone. They have a voicemail box setup already, i can get to it by using Feature 981 and entering the password. I can't figure out how to adjust the ringing for the system or how to route calls to the voicemail box. A former coworker said i would have to set all phones to 6-7 rings except ext 24 which would be set to five rings. But i don't know and can't find the feature codes to adjust rings to answer on the various extensions. Please help!!!

F985 will tell you Callpilots DN number.
Then go into sets capabilities and Forward No Answer where you can add that DN as well change the ring count....normal is 3 or 4 rings.

Notes
The set does not care if its an internal cal or external call (if no AA), it will forward as you told it.
If there is no such mailbox number 24 then it will default to the General Delivery mailbox 10.

If this is a new install I highly suggest 3 digit DN's because Hunt Groups will not be available in programming at 2 digits.
Hunt Groups can be really handy sometimes.

When i did fo85, it told me port 28. So do i need to login using **266344, go to terminals & sets, show set 28 and foward 28 to voicemail? Will i be able to check it using f981? How would i change the ringing to hit the general delivery mailbox instead?

Yes you use config to config.

You said it was set 24 so you would show set 24 and then forward no answer to 28 (Callpilot)

I have already stated if there is no mailbox created for X24 then it will default to General Mailbox.

To check a mailbox from any phone F981 OTHER XXYYYYY OK (XX is the mailbox number, YYYY is the password for it).
So general would be F981 OTHER 101234 as an example

or if you choose to use mailbox 24 then log with F981 OTHER 241234

And yes all other extensions need to be at a higher ring count so ext 24 mailbox picks up not the others.

How do i access the ringing functions on the phones? Whats the feature code?

And how do i set it up so the voicemail answers without having to call forward every time? Will that be solved by adjusting the ring to answer on the phones?

Seems everything I tell you you ask again, suggest you call a tech since you cannot grasp it.

Curly,

I apologize for my ignorance. As i am not very familier with the Nortels(I work with NEC, Fortinet, Samsung, Avaya primarily), i am trying to be absolutely sure i understand what i need to do. It is hard for me to grasp concepts as i am a hands on learner, but i do not know when i will be back on the customer site to go through the steps you have provided and i do not have a test system available for learning/troubleshooting. The explanations are not making sense to me hence the reason i keep asking questions.

I understand how to log in using config. I can find the set information but my last time with this system, i could not find the ringing options for the individual phones. Since there is no night or day modes and no AA, the system need only hit voicemail after the specified 5 rings. But i am failing to understand how to accomplish this without having to forward all of the extensions. Since set 24 is an actively used phone, the provided explanation seems as if i would have to show my customer how to forward her phone to 28 (callpilot) every evening, not something the customer wants to do. So what am i missing in my attempt to resolve this?

"My customer wants incoming calls to ring 5 times then hit a voicemail box that originates at extension 24"
Answer given above - Then go into sets capabilities and Forward No Answer where you can add that DN as well change the ring count....normal is 3 or 4 rings.

Question asked again - How do i access the ringing functions on the phones? Whats the feature code
Answer given above - Then go into sets capabilities and Forward No Answer where you can add that DN as well change the ring count....normal is 3 or 4 rings.

Question asked again - And how do i set it up so the voicemail answers without having to call forward every time?
Answer given above - Then go into sets capabilities and Forward No Answer where you can add that DN as well change the ring count....normal is 3 or 4 rings.

Forward No Answer tells a set where to go after the ring count expires, set the FNA to 28 then the Ring Count to 5 under set 24 in Capabilities.

Do you have the manuals?
Google these pdf's Norstar CICS Installer Guide and Norstar CICS System Coordinator Guide

It is all based on the fact that i am familier with newer phone systems, yet im still learning older ones.

Curly, i am sorry to be so annoying. Your advice helped me fix the issues i was having. Thank you.

No worries, you were not annoying.....I just couldn't give you any different answers to the questions.
