Before I start swapping parts, I just want to see if anyone's seen this in the field-

Handsfree=Auto, HF Answerback=Y on all sets.

Intermittently, calls made out by pressing line button, and dialing tn can't be heard by called party when answered. If the user lifts handset, then presses HF, the call can be heard normally. Almost as if call is automatically muted when placing the call.

Happens about every other call on all sets.

Sounds like a sw issue to me, but I'll take any suggestions.

Yeah, I tried toggling that on the sets, but no change.

I'm hoping running Startup again later this week will fix it. Thanks for the reply, Tommy.

If they're 'T' series phones they might have bad switch hooks. Do you get consistent normal operation if you disconnect the headsets and then switch between speakerphone and handset modes?

This KSU replaced an ancient 616. They kept their old 7310's- early release on those, too.

One other thing I've noticed, on the "newer" 7310's, volume will be maintained by set, but the really old ones default to sys vol regardless of how I've got it set. I've seen that in the past on old phones, so I didn't pay it much heed. I'll bring out a couple of 7316's to test with.

It'll probably be a week before I go back out, but I'll post what I find.

Thanks for the direction, guys!

Ah, then I'd suspect the release of the 'M' series phones is too old. If I remember correctly you need release 22 to operate correctly with R7.1 software. Check the white sticker on the bottom of the phone for the release number.

Will do. I'm sure you're right on this.

It might actually be easier to downgrade them to, say, 4.1, or 6.1. It's a home business, and they aren't swimming in cash. I'll see what I've got on the shelf.

Have you seen any compatability matrix thrown together for sw/tel sets?

Thanks, again.

I went up to the site today. All M7310's were rel 17 and 17B. (curly-Those do have the set vol issue, too. Star anyway.)

I didn't have any newer M models on hand, but the t7316 (non-e) I took up worked fine.

They ordered a few 7316e's for the critical locations.

I still haven't been able to find any sort of set rel compatibility matrix. When I get some free time I'll try to dig up some old manuals and put one together. I'll post it in the FAQ's here.

Thank you all for your help.
