Anyone else having sound quality issues with new CICS w 6.1MR, Global CID card and T series phones?
I have a car shop that is having big problems with hearing themselves in the earpiece. When there is louud noise from air tools and the like, it gets real bad. They can't hear what the caller is saying.

Any thoughts form our vast pool of knowledge.

I have those on my things to try list. Thanks.

Just got a new Norstar CICS 6.1 today with the T7316E sets, and we've got the same issue. You can hear yourself loudly in the earpiece when you speak. There is even a tiny bit of latency (delay) of your voice when talking. Sounds like a 6.1 issue to me. Anyone else experiencing these issues????

Check the dip switch setting on the CLID card. If it is on there is a 3db pad that is taken out of the lines in. If you have access to the mart magazine there is a company that sells T And M series handsets that have bothe noise cancelling and volume adjustments. Also check in your line settings and make sure that they are at the default value. I think it is medium CO.

We swapped out the NT7B75AAAE Global Caller ID line card for an NT7B75GA LS/DS. Problem went away enough that customer is happy. I am sending my CID card in to Nortel for warranty repair. I will be interested to see what I get back.

Just wanted to let you all know the final solution to this issue. We had another install come up with the same problem. No thanks to Nortel, I figured it out. A post here on an unrelated issue gave me the idea.

Trunk/Line Data > LossPkg changed to ShortCO (mediumCO is default) and problem goes away. New Global cards must have more gain than the legacy ones.

I have a customer who is still having sound quality issues with their CICS 6.1 and the T series phones. They have an M7310 and a T7316 both at the front desk (doctors office) and can hear great on the M7310, but if there is background talking, they can't hear the caller very well on the T phone. I changed out the line card to a NT7B75GA and they said it sounded a little better. So I change the LossPkg from MediumCO to ShortCO and it was better for a couple of calls and then was back to the same (?) so I changed it to LongCO and it seems to be better after many test calls. Is anybody else still having issues?

if it works fine on M7310 and not on T7316, i dont understand how can changing the CO Card / loss package fix the problem

The two we had ended up getting fixed by a complete backplane replacement. i.e We put in a new CICS cabinet. Nortel has released a newer version of the LS/DS line card (NT7B69AAAB) without saying why. I can only assume it was part of the problem. I have yet to see a new version of the Global CID card, which was in both of our problem CICS'.

Replace the CICS. You'll have to re-program from scratch, but it's worth not having to go out again for the same or similar problems.

Good Luck.
