CICS 6.1 Call Park Problem

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem with a client's CICS 6.1 with T7316 phones. 4 digit DNs, CP 100, park code is "7". One user peridocially has a problem with retrieving parked calls. He dials 7, and gets a busy signal, display sometimes reads invalid number. Sometimes the display shows nothing. A reboot of the system will always clear the problem. It has happened twice in the last month!

Any ideas?,
Matthew

Hi everyone,

Another thing I remembered as I was looking through client notes: their LCDs sometimes have a stuck 7, the phone will continue to function as normal, but the 7 will not leave the LCD. Pressing release will clear the 7. I am the IT director for the company, and also handle the Norstar's programming. Vendor that installed the system really didn't seem to have a clue, they didn't even understand hunt groups in the CICS! I took over the programming once the physical install was complete. Time to call back the HW vendor?

Thanks,
Matthew

you sure this 7 isn't programmed as hotline or autodial? Does this happen on all phones or one in particular..
Could be button 7 stuck on a set..

7 is programmed as only Park code. 7 on the display has happened on three sets, parking problem only occurs one one set.

I think there was some type of known bug with call park that caused a 1 to stay on the display of some MICS's. Maybe this is related.

You know, thinking about it, that makes sense since you changed your park prefix to 7.

I have also had similar issues with MICS XC6.1
Random sets display a '1' in the display window. Just hit the feature button and it goes back to normal. Has not happened on the same set twice. Yet.
No park issues but occasionally, 4-5x's a day, a call is transferred from reception via KIM key or manual, and the call goes thru but the key on the incoming target line flashes as if on hold. After the call is completed and both parties hang up, the blinking key rings back to reception - like a transfer call back. No-one there of course. This happened on the old 7324-CAP setup too, but only after the upgrade to XC6.1

I'm pretty sure its a software issue, from what I've seen. Any ideas when Nortel's next major software release for Norstar will be?

Thanks,
Matthew
