I've got a law firm that wants TAPI through Lexis Nexis "TimeMatters 9.0" sw on their Vista machines. I'm concerned about sw compatibility issues.

Has anyone used this particular setup?

That's the only way I know how to make TAPI work. I'm assuming CTA200's. Is there another way?

The thing I'm worried about is Vista.

I do not have any customers using vista
just xp or 2000
Knowing vista very well , I would say no it should not be a problem.

the only problem i have run across is using USB connection.
Never have any problem with serial

I've been beating myself up with this one.

It turns out he's using XP, but the software just won't install. The customer is a lawyer, and he can only afford me about 1/2 hour at a time to attack his PC.

I am using a usb connection from the cta200. Every time I try to install the sw, it'll advance to 50% and hang. The last time I tried to install it, I let it run overnight to see if it would finish.

No luck.

Any ideas?

Never had any luck with USB
RS2 32 connection no problems
I Installed PCI serial cards on 10 PC'S after trying to get usb to work that fixed it

Try the RS2 32 connection

Have you tried installing the software on another Computer

Do you know were it's hanging up at like when it's trying to install the divers or a certain app files.

To many variables. PC maintenance, cheap virus - firewall program, usb port, registry problems, hardware

I would start with a different PC or even use your laptop to get it working at least you can show the customer it does work
then start looking at that PC for causes

netwt-

Yeah, I'm beginning to think the usb is to blame...

I just tried it on my PC at home with the usb, and it's hanging at the same spot- 50% through installing TSP.

I'll try to find a db9 card for his machine, and post again when I get it fixed.

Thanks!

if you do install the driver that comes with the PCI card
XP may not have a driver

I finally got back out there, and hooked up the cta via the db9 cable. The software still won't install...

One thing I did notice, under port/dn status, the b2 was showing none on that port.

I've never had much trouble with cta's, so I never bothered to look. Is that normal?

I tried a different cta200, and a cta100, and neither showed in Maint.

The only other thing I can think of, is that TSP 3.1 is already installed on the PC. He has a cell device that I think is using it, so I don't want to remove it without knowing that's the cause.

Got me. I have never looked at port dn Status with a CTA
I would think it would show 7310 08 16 depending on which style phone is plugged into the CTA.

As far as why you are having so much trouble with the software installation.

That is another thing I have never had a Problem with other than what I have already mentioned

What Software are you installing?
Is it Productivity Suite 2.1

I beleive it's 1.2?... maybe I'm dyslexic. I'll double check the disks.

I even tried a different CD, thinking maybe I'd gotten a bad burn from Nortel.

No Sorry I have 2.1

If you have 1.X there's the problem.
1.X dont work with XP or Vista

That may explain my headache!

Every disk that's come with cta's I've ordered has come with 1.2. (and hence Tapi/TSP 2.1)

Whose sister do I have to ....

I mean, do you know where I can get a hold of PP2.1?

Another star for the diagnosis...
