When the customer answers a call on a pots line they want to pres TRANSFER and then dial lets say a cell number and then RELEASE.

I have been able to do this with a MICS that uses dial 9 for an external line but how would I do this when all sets show lines 1 through 4 APPEAR AND RING?

They have a CICS 4.1 with 4 lines and 5 sets. Lines APPEAR and RING on all sets. They are set up for AUTOMATIC DIALING.

You do it the same way as you would on a MICS.

[ol 1]
[li]Make sure that the disconnect supervision is enabled for all the lines.[/li]
[li]Put all the lines into the same line pool, Pool A for instance.[/li]
[li]Allow the sets to access the line pool.[/li]
[li]Set 9 as the line pool access code.[/li]
[/ol]

To transfer a call to an external number, the user presses the TRANSFER softkey, dials 9 to get a line from the pool, dials the external number and presses the Release button.

Alternatively, instead of using the line pool access code, you can create a destination code, 9 for instance. You will also need to create a route that absorbs all digits and uses the line pool.

You would be best off using the telco to transfer using the F71 (Link). The feature must be enabled at the CO, but it uses no on site lines. Once the transfer is made the line is free to receive new calls. Using the TRANSFER button uses up 2 CO lines.

thank you both! Since they are not used to using nine forty outside line is there anyway when they first the transfer button for them to get a dial tone or must say dial a 9? Thank you

No, I don't think so.

If you press the TRANSFER softkey and then press a free line button, you hear a tone and the display reads "Still in transfer".

When the Transfer feature is active, you have the equivalent of an internal line, as if you had pressed an Intercom button. So, your only options are to dial an extension number, a line pool access code or a destination code. You can also press an internal autodial button or a line pool button, but that's about it. It also explains why you cannot use features that dial external number, such as Last Number Redial, Saved Number Redial or Speed Dial.

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

I am back at the site and when I dial then press TRANSFER then when I press an outside line to get a CO dial tone it says TRANSFER DENIED.

They do not use 9 for an external line. I have them set up for AUTOMATIC dialing.

Outgoing calls cannot be transferred externally. This is a limitation of the system that prevents lines from staying busy indefinitely.

Incoming calls can be transferred externally if they are on a disconnect supervised line.

Dialing options have nothing to do with this issue.

I just tried this on a BCM and it let me do this with an outgoing call. Also this will work on a MICS 6.1 using dial 9.

There are a few other reasons why you would get a "Transfer denied" message on the display:

[ul]
[li]Disconnect supervision is not enabled on the line. (It's usually what prevents an external transfer.)[/li]
[li]The maximum number of simultaneous transfers has been reached. (It's pretty unlikely, but it could happen.)[/li]
[/ul]

I suggest that you double-check that disconnect supervision is enabled on all the lines.

Then, try to externally transfer an incoming call. Let us know if it works and we'll continue from there.

Thanks, will do I'll be back there later in the week. Thank you
