I have Informix 9.4 running on Solaris. Earlier in the week a hard drive failed. The drive has been replaced. Two of the slices on the disk were mirrored and the mirrored slices have been recovered. However I discovered one of the slices was not mirrored, and appears to be a slice holding index information (I didn't develop or create the database/application) and that slice is keeping the instance from coming online.
When Informix attempts to start I get an error that the chunk fails a sanity check, the suggested action is to recover from an archive. But it appears since Informix manages this raw disk space and the backup and recovery processes, I can't recover the information from the archive unless Informix is online, currently in quiesence mode.
Is there any way to bring the instance online ignoring the error of this one chunk? Would dropping the chunk and adding it back buy me any progress? I'm really trying to minimize the damage to the data, as this is a large database of customer records used for billing.
Thanks in advance for any possible suggestions,
Joe M
