chromatic aberation or red patches on photos 1

I want to remove some red patches off the fur of a guinepig photo the colour of which is redy orange. Not sure whether this is chromatic aboration or fringing, although it is on the foot and not the edge of the photo. Can use the patch tool but doesn't always work very well and have tried the other cleaning tools such as the spot healing brush and the stamp tool but aren't working in this particular case. Does anyone know of a quick correction method I can use for this and one that works well. have also tried using hue and saturation but to no avail.
 

...try an adjustment layer, curves, drop out the channels until you get an even match...

...then fill the adjustment layer mask with black and paint in the areas with a soft edge white brush to reveal the adjustment in the areas requiring attention...

...you can then adjust the curve further to refine the color adjustment...
