chpass dumps on AIX

Hi,
I have installed freeware.aix.tools.rte version 1.5.4.0 on AIX versions 4.3, 5.1 and 5.2. There is a utility called chpass (/usr/local/lib/tools/chpass). First time I have run it it worked on some systems, but now it crashes and creates a core file. Anybody seen that?

Jiri,

Checkout the command for validating the password file. Some applications do not install accounts with schemas and this may be your problem. Be-care we running it, it has a flag for fixing all schemas that I know needs a PTF to stop it trashing the schema file on some systems. That failing its not too difficult to write your own chpass utility.
