Is it possible to set a parameter by choosing from a pick list filled with the value's of a database field ?

I have a database field with number from 1 to .....
I want to choose the users one of the numbers and use this number as a selection parameter for my report.

The database field is dynamic so I need to read the pick list every time the report is used to get the actual values.

Is there an option to do this ?

Hello wmbb,

Not sure what version of crystal you are using but i'll think you could just go to the parameter section of your report and create new.

give the parameter a name and type (number), then if using CR 2008: select dynamic from the list values option.

Then below your list of option where it says choose a data source (New selected by default), click on the blank value field and you should see a list of your tables and fields. In this case select the field you want as your parameter and click Ok.

Now use the new parameter in your record selection and it should prompt you to make a selection automatically. Everytime your database field gets updated, the parameter would auto refresh and make the new data available as part of your selection.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your information.
Unfortunately I'm stuck to the build-in version in our LIMS-system (version 8.5).
I think these option are not in our system.
Maybe time for an upgrade !!??
