Three macs hooked up - two allow guest entrance, third (iMac) can't seem to find this. Yes, file sharing is enabled and read/write permissions for any user and everyone checked. But when I select the machine from the chooser I keep getting the guest radio button grayed out. I can work around by going to the iMac and connecting to the other two systems, but it's a little inconvenient since my step-child uses this machine.

I can't remember the password from the old iMac. Is there anyway to override and set a new one for the machine in the File Sharing control panel?

Thanks
Max

on the iMac - go to Apple at top left of screen, then Control Panels, then File Sharing, then in there (somewhere) is ALLOW GUESTS TO CONNECT checkbox

Duncan

Duncan, thanks. I found it. You can get to it either through users and groups, or users and groups from file sharing. Open guest - select sharing from drop down and there's the checkbox.

Thanks again,
Max
