Hello I have a form with a folder and file list viewer
I want to be able to select a database on cd rom and then
import the table into the Access db with my form and modules
in, and then clean it and put it into to some crossed-linked tables that go into my SQL2000 database. Can I use something other than ADO to do this....ADO seems to slow down the updating.

I think the reason it's slow is cause it's reading from a CD-ROM.
did you try copying the database to the C-drive
Also the database on the CD-ROM is going to be read only.

No I tried it on a Access db on a local disk,
and it was still very slow....this was using
VB6 ADO to connect to Access with a connection
object and then used a stored procedure to
insert the records one-by-one.

The use of cross-linked tables in Access linking
to the tables in SQL is much quicker, but I don't
know how to set it up so that I can link the queries
to a db that only exists when a cd rom is placed
inside.....how can I link two access dbs together
without ADO.

Thanks,
m@
