Hi all, I'm new to shells and Linux. Tell me, how do I use 'chfn' to change my real name and info so that IRC users can't see it? Thanks.

Type chfn in the shell command prompt.
Step by step it will ask you your Name, Location, Office Phone, Home phone etc. If you want to change a field enter
information there, otherwise just press 'Enter'.

When someone fingers you using the 'finger' command,
(egs: finger dave@somewhere.com ) he will see the information you entered using the chfn command.

if you create a file called ".plan" in your $HOME
then the contents of that file will be printed when someone
"fingers" you.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that, and using vi, was able to change it. But... it wouldn't save and it still shows the same info. So I tried .plan, and that still shows my real name too. Now what did I do wrong?
