Checks printing slow

Hi. A client has called me to complain of slow check printing. The printing process itself is not slow, but the time interval between saying OK to print checks and the check printing starting can be upwards of three minutes.
She is printing to a HP Laserjet 4050TN. I have asked her to print checks to another printer to try to isolate the issue.
Has anyone else run across this? Thanks in advance.
