It was suggested in another post that I make sure my VFP installation has the latest upgraded files and hot fixes.

Would some kind person explain how to check the existing files and get and install any updates.

My vfp9.exe is dated 15/10/2007 as are many of the other files in the VFP folder.

Thanks in advance.

VERSION(4) will give you the version number. For example, for VFP 9.0 SP1, it gives 09.00.0000.2412. You can also derive the version date from that. See the Help for VERSION() to see how to do that.

Ok folks - so I have the version number - 09.00.0000.5815.

Is this not the latest version?

I found a file on MS VFP9_sp2.exe but although it starts opening as if it is an installer it doesn't go all the way.

If this is a later version , how do I install it please?

Thanks

GenDev

Re: not the latest?
Just read the list at the link I gave you to Bereznikers blog.
Also start Help->About Microsoft Visual Foxpro, as Vilhelm-Ion Praisach said, and the top line of that windows will tell you it'S SP2 already.

Re: how to install vfp9_sp2.exe
You are at the level of the official Sp2 version including the fixed splash screen. You don't need to do the vfp9_sp2.exe, that's already installed, at least seems so.
You wouldn't need to do anything else but run it. You may look into properties, general, if there is an unblock button, because it's a download, you need to unblock and then run as admin.

All you'd need now as you already have sp2 is the hotfix3. You don't get that from MS anymore, google the KB number and you'll find hints at Foxite. I don't want to add a link here that may not be valid all time, too. Officially MS has dropped support and you don't get most things from them anymore. The redirection into the archive section of ms code site didn't work.

The SP installers unzip and have readme instructions, you have to do several manuals steps for the hotfix installation, which also update the merge modules you may use with Installshield to create a setup including runtimes.

Bye, Olaf.

Thanks to everyone.

I have installed update 7423 but it did not solve my Report problem as described in a previous thread.

I shall keep trying options.

The problem with the preview window in thread184-1748749?

I thought you already solved it. Did you follow Dans suggestion to have a config.fpw with SCREEN=OFF instead of a code line _SCREEN.Visible = .F.?
If you didn't understan: That makes a big difference in where the REPORT FORM command shows its native Preview Window.

Having configured SCREEN=OFF the runtime knows it can't display the preview in that window.

Bye, Olaf.
