I am using SCO Unix 5.05 and every time I reboot the system it takes about 10 minutes to come up to the login. It runs through the file system check each time. I know on other computers we have that this doesn't happen unless the system has been turned off without doing a proper shutdown.

Does anyone know how to stop the checking on bootup?

Thanks

check out 'man filesys'. this will give all the options
but generally i think you need to set fsck=no for the filesystems that are always getting checked. If the system is improperly shut down it will still do the check.

hope this helps

I have checked out the man pages for filesys. It doesn't really say if I should edit the file itself or if there is a way to do it through the SCO admin shell. Which way should it be done?

huronbay,

yes you can do it thru scoadmin -> filesystems -> file system manager -> select filesystem -> Add/modify mount configuration -> check and repair options.

but i personally would just edit /etc/default/filesys
and change the yes to a no.
