I have 3 tables

Table 1 contains various info including several codes (2 digit)
Table 2 and 3 contain reference/lookup info for the 2 digit codes

Users input info to table 1 including the codes and users being users don't always put in the right codes I want to produce a report that will highlight wronly coded items only

I have tried unequal joins but this hasn't worked any ideas.

If you link your files using the 'Not equal' option you should get a list of Table1 records that have a code that is NOT found in Table2.

Speaking as an application programmer, it occurs to me that a better solution would be to modify your data entry processes so that the users cannot enter invalid codes. In my experience this is a far better strategy than trying to report on and undo the mistakes later. A hundred quid (dollars?) spent on developers time could possibly save you many hundreds over a year. Just a thought.

I have put the joins as unequal I think there may be a problem with the linking i may need to look closer at the SQL( interbase)

I agree that the input referential integrity should be checked but this is a 3rd party product and getting them do do it is a different matter.

Thanks
