Checking for duplicate elements or attributes

Hello,

I am a newbie and this is my first post. I am trying to create hyperlinks to schema documentation. So for each attribute or element, there will be a hyperlink to the schema documentation. The problem that I am facing is that the elements and attributes appear numerous times within the XML document, which in turn creates numerous hyperlinks to the same documentation. This behavior is undesired...I would rather not print duplicate hyperlinks. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am using HTML, XML, and Javascript (embedded within the XML) Does this help?

ooops, the Javascript is in the HTML not the XML. Sorry about that.
