Checking for connected printer

Hello all! Hoping for a simple solution to this one.

I've got a routine that generates hardcopy and/or "print-to-file" outputs for several entities at the push of a button.

While I'm using a built-in dialog to select a printer, I don't know if it's online until I try to print. By then it's asynchronous due to spooling and I'm already on my way in the processing.

Is there a way to - WITHOUT sending a sample page - to verify the printer's online?
