I have been working for a little while on writing a php mail script. I have the sending part down pat, but I'm having a hard time finding resources about how to check your email using php. Is it even possible? If anyone could give me a lead on what to look for/where to look, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you. I am already using pear classes to send mail, so I will look into using them to receive, too. I didn't know they could be used to receive, too.

While I was looking through the PEAR class, I ran across this in the source:

* +----------------------------- IMPORTANT ------------------------------+
* | Usage of this class compared to native php extensions such as IMAP |
* | is slow and may be feature deficient. If available you are STRONGLY |
* | recommended to use the php extensions. |
* +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

So yeah, I'm going to look into using IMAP. I thought you may be interested in knowing this, if you didn't already.

I hadn't seen that warning before, but I'm not suprised by it. As a general rule, compiled code is going to be faster than interpreted code.
