Checking a server/ISP

Is it possible to us Visual Basic to create a program that would check every 30 mins the Internet service provider.&nbsp;&nbsp;To see if it is down or not.<br><br>And if can, could you point me in the right direction.<br>
 
If you're on a LAN where you have constant connection you could try to ping the ISP (If they allow that). Then if you get a good ping try to naviage to a site (or their home page) and see that you get a valid page back. You can do this with the WebBroswer1 control in Visual BASIC. However you will need a third party tool or code to do ICMP Pinging. You can use this same technique for dial-up adapters but you'll have to connect and disconnect.
