Checkbox default as checked problem

Hi,

I have a checkbox. Woo!
When I open the page it defaults to checked.
When I submit the page (though checked) the value stored is still "N".
This is an access database.
When I uncheck it and then check it again, it stores it correctly.

I'm missing something here, as usual. Any suggestions?
