Check syntax of query subjects

Each time I want to check the query syntax of a query item I am prompted to select a connection. However, when I choose the wrong connection, then the next attempt immediately selects the latest entered connection (which fails of course) I suspect that this is cached somehow.
At the moment I need to close and re-open the framework to clear this. Is there another way?
