I have an HP laserjet 4050pcl6 setup as a network printer for printing checks. we use a program that uses a template for check printing, but the out put is different on XP machines and 98 machines. the placement in 98 is down and to the right, but both are using the hp 4050pcl6 printer driver (except one is the xp version and one is 98 version of course). Has anyone else out there had an issue like this, or better yet, a fix for an issue like this. ;-)
thanks for any help

There's no way to adjust the printing position within the check writing program? In theory, that is possible because the drivers are actually different, although I would expect them to be very similar. On the xp computer, in the print driver properties, printing defaults, is there any way to change margins or scale the output? (I don't have this printer).

well, I have a better diagnosis now. upon looking into the template, I realized that the 98 machines are printing accurately. the xp machine is somehow blowing up the page about 10 or 15 percent, and this is blowing the margins. I also found that if I do a batch of checks (more than 3 at a time) the XP machine is printing accurately as well. The original settings were designed on the XP machine, but they will be adjusted to compensate. however, if I need to print less than 3 checks on the XP machine after I change those settings, it prints wrong. I have to have a single template for this program because it is a shared program, and once the template is set all of the users will be using the same setting.
