I seem to be having a little problem with my solaris machine which is the firewall. It has a quad network card connected to different portions of my net work namely:

1. DNS/ Mail Server
2. Inhouse Network (with NAT)
3. Layer 3 switch and consequently gateway router

All sectons of the Network are able to ping the Firewall but cant ping each other

I want to unload the firewall and see what hapens but dont know the command can any one help out?

with the firewall installed the default with no policy loaded is to block everything. i can think of 2 options (make sue you disconnect any internet connections first)
create a policy with one rule
any - any - accept (creates open firewall)
or uninstall software ( i dont beleive you can switch it off but i may be wrong)

Hi all

after a sleepless night I noticed that the firewall was working OK no need to unload (with "fwstop" command) or reinstall but it was a solaris problem the /etc/hosts file had no entry for one of the interfaces on the quad. network card in the /etc/hostname.qfe0.

It was giving an error msg - ifconfig:Server:bad address (server is the name of the computer this took place)

Thx for any reply to this post.
